Every project is unique, and we believe in delivering truly personal service. To request a quote, simply click the Contact us button or send an email to Contact@Lloyd-LS.com with details about your project, including the document you’d like translated/proofed/edited as an attachment or a link. We’ll review your request and get back to you promptly with a tailored quote that meets your specific needs.
What information do you need to start a translation project?
There is a variety of information we like to have before starting a translation project:
- First, we need a source text. We can handle more than 50 different file types ranging from the standard Office Suite formats to XML, CSV and various OpenDoc formats. And we can also work with hard copy and scanned documents (for instance if you need a certified translation of an official document).
- We also need to know what language or languages it is to be translated into and what your preferred deadline is. You’re also welcome to tell us if you have a specific translator that you prefer we use.
- It’s also helpful if you can give us a brief similar to what you might give an ad agency: Who is the target group/target persona? What is the text for? How will it be used? What is the preferred tone of voice?
- If you have any support material like style guides, imagery, sources for terminology and inspiration, that’s also important to share with us.
- You should also let us know if there are any sections that are not to be translated (notes in PowerPoint or mandatory texts in pharmaceutical copy, for example).
- And finally, please let us know what your preferred deadline is and we’ll do everything in our power to meet it.
How do I prepare my documents for translation to ensure the best results?
Here are some general tips that can help make the translation process smoother:
- Make sure to accept and turn off all track changes.
- Try to avoid using forced line breaks if possible.
- If there are endnotes or footnotes, please make sure they are numbered consecutively.
- Please let us know if there are notes/comments in a presentation and if they are to be translated
- Please make sure to adjust text frames in InDesign so there is no overset text.
- It’s also a good idea to clean up any loose text, comments etc. that doesn’t belong in the final document. This will save us time and you money.
- You can save time on layout by sending us all the InDesign files for the project, including all the fonts and link images. That way we can deliver a translated document that uses the correct fonts and contains updated links.
Can you provide a sample translation before we commit to a full project?
We are more than happy to do a sample translation of a short text of approx. 250 words in length. The price will be agreed on a case-by-case basis.
What file formats do you accept for translation?
We can handle more than 50 different file types ranging from the standard Office Suite and XML to CSV, various OpenDoc formats, and SRT.
I have a tight deadline. How quickly can I receive a translation?
How long it takes us to provide you with a quality translation depends on several things, including the volume of the material to be translated, the degree of difficulty, and the language combination. If you have a tight deadline, there are several steps we can take to ensure on-time delivery even with a short deadline. Tell us what you need and we’ll do everything we can to deliver a translation of the highest possible quality right when you need it.
Quality Assurance
How do you ensure translation quality?
Quality is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not an option, but a requirement for delivering translations you can trust.
We ensure exceptional quality by working exclusively with highly experienced language specialists and striving to assign your work to the same translation team every time to ensure uniform high quality from job to job.
All our linguists are experts in their fields and adhere to the Lloyd Language Services key principles:
- The Human Intelligence Principle: We prioritize the expertise of human translators, using AI or machine translation only upon request, and even then, our native speakers always have the last word.
- The Six-Eyes Principle: Every project is produced, reviewed, and refined by at least two skilled linguists plus extra quality control by a sharp-eyed project manager, ensuring accuracy and quality at every stage.
- The Native Language Principle: Our linguists work only in their native language. This ensures authenticity and quality.
- Surpass expectations: We seek to add value and boost quality in any way we can, from calling attention to errors we come across in the source text to adjusting the layout of the final translation before delivery so you don’t have to.
Our commitment to quality goes beyond the words on the page – it also covers quality in service. We listen to you and take the time to understand your unique needs. And we strive to give you the kind of personal service you deserve.
What experience do your translators have?
At Lloyd Language Services, we communicate messages across cultures with precision and flair. That’s only possible because we work with the very best. Every member of our strong network of native-speaking linguists has at least 10 years of experience and is an expert in their field, from pharma to law, marketing to PR.
Do you use any specific translation tools or software?
While Human Intelligence is at the core of everything we do, this doesn’t mean we avoid modern technology at all costs. We use language technology when and where it makes the most sense. One technology pervades our lives as translators above all others (including ChatGPT) – CAT: Computer Aided Translation. CAT technology has been around since the 90s and it makes up the backbone of modern machine translation (MT) and AI.
A CAT tool is a secure and closed system:
- Each client has their own dedicated language database containing all the translations we’ve ever done for them.
- Each language combination has it’s own separate database.
- The information stored in these databases is kept completely confidential and is never openly available online.
- Storing all your translations in one database makes it easy to ensure uniform terminology use within and across projects, as well as consistent tone of voice and style.
- And lastly, and most likely what matters most to you: CAT tools enable us to offer discounts based on reuse and repetitions of text within the individual document and across projects.
Do you use AI for translation and text production?
Human Intelligence is at the core of everything we do at Lloyd Language Services. This means we only utilize AI when explicitly requested by a client. And even then, our native speakers always have the last word.
Confidentiality & Data Protection
How do you ensure confidentiality and data security?
We take confidentiality and data security very seriously.
All our suppliers have signed collaboration agreements and NDAs with us, and we are always willing to sign NDAs with our clients as well.
We ensure secure file transfers using encrypted channels, restricting access to project files to only those directly involved in your project. Sensitive documents are stored in secure environments, with files are deleted according to our data retention policies once the project is complete.
We also comply with all relevant data protection regulations, including GDPR.
Finally, we have data processing agreements (DPAs) in place with all our cloud storage, email and hosting providers. And we’re happy to establish data processing agreements with clients if needed.
