Why Settle for Two Eyes When You Can Have Six?
We’ve all been there: We’ve worked hard on a presentation, a blog article… a translation. We’ve read it through countless times and are pleased with the result and confident we’ve surpassed expectations.
That’s when we, at Lloyd Language Services, run it past one of our skilled proofreaders. And I don’t know about you, but I always think, this time I’ve finally stumped her and she won’t have any corrections.
Later, she writes back: Great work! Just two typos and a few suggestions 🤯
To Err is Human
That’s right: NOBODY can proofread their own work and be sure to catch everything. Because the brain is built to see what it expects to see and has a tendency to autocorrect when it comes across things like a “they” which grammatically should obviously be a “then”.
Even seasoned translators and copywriters can overlook a misplaced comma or make a typo. Because they’re human just like you.
That’s why everything we do is reviewed and quality checked.
We call this the Six-Eyes Principle: translator + proofreader + quality control.
Getting fresh eyes on the work is vital to delivering a high-quality result – and it’s about more than just finding mistakes.
This process:
✔️ Spurs discussions that lead to better solutions
✔️ Helps pinpoint the exact words for your needs
✔️ Test drives your text with people of different backgrounds, but with a shared interest in language
Working together and providing feedback isn’t just something we translators put up with – it’s part of the joy of translation!
We welcome the interaction and feedback, because we learn from it. Because we love the interesting discussions it triggers. But also because we know it gets better results.
Peace of Mind for Us… and for You
The Six-Eyes Principle is a win-win-win:
🏅It gives you peace of mind and means less work for you when you receive your text.
🏅It saves face for our professional translators and gives them the chance to triple-check their work and ensure it’s up to their usual high standards – because human mistakes happen.
🏅And it ensures precision of language, whether the translation is into 1 language or 20.
When it comes to language and communication, there’s no 100% guarantee – we’re only human, after all.
But with our Six-Eyes Principle we get pretty close.
